Joe Root Becomes first England batter to score 34 Test Centuries: Equals Sunil Gavaskar’s Record

England’s batting beast Joe Root has achieved a massive milestone during the 2nd Test against Sri Lanka on August 31. Root made his 34th Test century, which also happens to be his 50th international century.

Root’s 33rd Test century was in the first innings, which he took on and continued his form in the second innings to score his record-breaking 34th Test century. With this century, Root surpassed the record of Alastair Cook for the most centuries scored by an English cricketer.

This Test century by Joe Root places him in the formidable group of batters. He has secured his name with the likes of legendary cricketers such as Younis Khan, Sunil Gavaskar, and others. Only five players have scored more Test hundreds than Root
