Tempe might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think about mountain biking, but spend a little time here, and a different story unfolds. Just beyond the city streets, and sometimes right within them, the Sonoran Desert reveals a surprisingly rich network of trails shaped by rugged terrain, striking desert landscapes, and a dedicated riding community. It’s the same desert we ride in every day, right in our own backyard.
In this episode of “Underexposed,” Brice Shirbach explores how local riders and advocates are working to protect and expand access to these trails. From iconic desert ridgelines to hidden singletrack tucked against the edges of urban sprawl, it’s a look at the places and people that make riding here so special.
