Jermaine Franklin WARNS Moses Itauma: Never been in deep waters

Jermaine Franklin has warned Moses Itauma that he’ll drag him into unknown territory when they clash this Saturday.

Itauma faces tough American, Franklin at the Co-op Live in Manchester, live on DAZN.

Itauma has breezed through the early stages of his professional career, wiping out former world title challenger, Dillian Whyte in the opening round in August to take his unbeaten record to 13-0.

The visitor took both Whyte and Anthony Joshua the distance in defeat and has never been stopped in his 26-fight professional career.

‘989 Assassin’ has vowed to drag the highly-touted 21-year-old into “deep waters” in their heavyweight 10-rounder.

“He’s never been in deep waters,” the 32-year-old told DAZN.

“So it’ll be a different territory for him.

“I’ve been in deep waters a couple of times.

“So I know how it is, how it feels, so I think going to deep waters benefits me more.

“Your body reacts differently when you’re tired in the later rounds.

“I know how to get punches off in the later rounds.

“I know how to set certain stuff up in the later rounds.”

The Michigan man has won three on the spin since defeat to Joshua, overcoming Ivan Dychko by unanimous decision in September.

Itauma is the number one contender to both Fabio Wardley’s WBO heavyweight title and Oleksandr Usyk’s WBA crown.

A clash with Wardley, who defends his belt against Daniel Dubois on May 9, is virtually off the table with both men trained by Ben Davison.

Usyk, who defends his WBC crown against ex-kickboxing champion, Rico Verhoeven on May 23 in Egypt dismissed a showdown with the rising Brit.

“I don’t want to fight with Itauma, because it’s a young guy,” the 39-year-old told Inside The Ring.

“I don’t want to break this guy.

“He’s a guy like me.

“Rico, this is first.

“Second is who wins [between] Wardley-Dubois and [the] third fight is my friend, ‘Greedy Belly’ Tyson Fury.”
