San Bernardino, California, (March 24th, 2026)– On Monday evening, March 23, 2026, female light flyweight Isis Sio, age 19, miraculously emerged from a medically induced coma.

When a professional boxer, male or female, gets knocked out in the first round, three to six months suspension is the standard, followed by medical reevaluation, before being reapproved to box again.

On Saturday evening, March 21, 2026, in the opening bout of ProBox TV’s card at the National Orange Show Event Center, at San Bernardino, California, light flyweight Isis Sio got knocked unconscious at 1:18 of the first round by undefeated Jocelyn Camarillo of India, California. after taking nonstop head and body shots while trapped on the ropes near a corner. The head shots did the damage, with Rio appearing to be unconscious before falling when the damaging shots to the right side of the head landed. Sio received medical attention immediately after the fight ended and could be seen convulsing as she was stretchered out of the arena. She was sent to Loma Linda University Health Medical Center in San Bernardino for emergency care and treatment, where she was placed in a medically induced coma in the ICU intensive care unit of the hospital.

Two minutes per round in female pro boxing bouts can be deceiving to presume as safer. Rather, Sio had previously been knocked out for the 10 count by a body punch in her previous bout at 1:41 of the first round, only 50 days earlier by undefeated Perla Mazaldua of Los Angeles on January 30, 2026, at Thunder Studios in Thunder Beach, California. How, only 88 days after getting knocked out cold in the first round in California, Sio was cleared to fight, represents a failure of the California State Athletic Commission, both corners, and the attending physicians. Sio had previously fought at bantamweight and super flyweight. The bout with Camarillo was Sio’s first at the 108-pound light flyweight limit.

Camarillo is signed to Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions. While female boxers are not many, the obvious hyped mismatch result to make Camarillo look good, also jeopardizing the life of Sio, who should have been on indefinite suspension in California by the CSAC based on the result of her last bout, and should have never been signed, approved, and cleared by the commission as an opponent for Camarillo a month later.
