Edinburgh have promised a response following their humiliation at Ellis Park last Saturday.
The Scottish side heads into Saturday’s clash against the Stormers under pressure, and with some tough truths aired behind closed doors.
Assistant coach Stevie Lawrie admitted there has been “honest self-reflection” in the camp following their struggles.
“There really are no excuses. We trained well during the week, but the same old problems are creeping back. We are not consistent enough,” he said.

Lawrie revealed that “hard conversations” have taken place, with both players and coaches challenged to lift their standards.
“There is nowhere to hide. There has to be honesty on both sides [between players and coaches] because it’s not good enough.”
It’s a warning shot ahead of the Cape Town showdown, where a resurgent Stormers outfit await. Buoyed by back-to-back wins, the hosts are building momentum at the right time of the season and will be eager to capitalise at home.

Edinburgh feel they know what to do to turn the corner on Saturday.
“I can live with mistakes, but there were times that there was not enough effort,” Lawrie said.
“The qualities that must define us as a team are how hard we try. How hard we fight and how much we care. Those two things were missing.”
