Emerald Warriors Green Make History at the Lynch Cup
The Emerald Warriors RFC Green team made history on Saturday, 16 August 2025, with a commanding 31–5 victory over the Cork Hellhounds in the overall final of the inaugural Lynch Cup.
Honouring Sarah Lynch’s Legacy
The tournament was organised by Sarsfields RFC to honour the memory of Sarah Lynch, a founding member of the club who sadly passed away in December 2023. Sarah’s passion for rugby and commitment to inclusion inspired this event, which brought together teams from across Ireland for a unique mix of full-contact and tag rugby.
Tom Clifford Park, home of Young Munster RFC, provided the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable day where inclusive rugby took centre stage. The atmosphere was electric as players and supporters celebrated diversity, community, and the spirit of the game.
“This tournament is an absolute privilege for us to host,” said Gearóid Folan, President of Sarsfield Rugby. “Sarah was such an important part of everyone’s life here, and we’re delighted to commemorate her in this way. Limerick is often called the home of rugby, so it’s only fitting that an event like this takes place here.”
