Orlando Wiet, UFC 2 fighter, dead at age 60

Orlando Wiet, a champion in multiple kickboxing and muay thai organizations and a mixed martial arts pioneer who competed at UFC 2 in 1994, has died at age 60.

The fighter born in Paramaribo, Suriname, and fighting out of France, died Thursday, according to coach Milton Felter. News of his death was first reported by Vechtsport although a cause of death was not publicly revealed. According to social media images, Wiet was hospitalized in February.

Wiet defeated Robert Lucarelli at UFC 2 by way of technical knockout from knees to the head. He fought later that same night and was defeated by elbows on the ground from Remco Pardoel.
