Dave Allen and Filip Hrgovic are on course to meet in a stadium fight in Doncaster in May.
Allen (25-8-2, 20 KOs) and Hrgovic (19-1, 14 KOs) are in advanced talks to fight on May 16 at the Eco-Power Stadium, home of Doncaster Rovers, sources told proboxing-fans.com.
A deal is not yet signed at the time this goes to publish.
Should the pair finalise an agreement, Allen, who is from Doncaster, will have home advantage heading into the heavyweight clash, which will be a co-promotion between Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom which promote Allen and Frank Warren’s Queensberry, who handle Hrgovic’s career.
The clash will be broadcast live on DAZN.
‘The White Rhino’ bounced back from defeat to Arslanbek Makhmudov with a first round stoppage of Karim Berredjem in February on the undercard of Leigh Wood’s rematch victory over Josh Warrington in Nottingham.
Hrgovic has only lost once in his career, an eight round TKO defeat to Daniel Dubois in June 2024.
The 33-year-old has won two on the spin since, outpointing Joe Joyce and David Adeleye respectively last year.
The Croat holds the WBO International heavyweight title and is ranked at at two with the WBO behind world champion, Fabio Wardley.

Wardley makes a first defence of his WBO crown on May 9 in Manchester against former IBF world champion, Dubois.
Rising 21-year-old prospect, Moses Itauma is the number one contender with the governing body and he risks his ranking when he faces Michigan’s Jermaine Franklin on Saturday in Manchester.
Allen’s promoter, Eddie Hearn told media including Pro Boxing Fans last week that both Hrgovic and Zhilei Zhang were names in the running to face the 34-year-old.

“We’ve received a contract.
“I believe next week Dave Allen’s fight will be announced.
“It’s a big fight for him. A great opportunity and that’s all I’ll say for now.

“It’s a top 15 guy.
“It’s a Queensberry heavyweight.”
