It’s been almost 20 years since Marcus Alexander Bagwell stepped into a TNA ring. With the former nWo star undergoing a leg amputation, nobody expected to see Mark Bagwell on wrestling television again. However, Buff Bagwell returned to TNA in his home state of Georgia to announce that he plans to wrestle one last time. Buff the Stuff’s proclamation drew out former TNA Champion Frankie Kazarian. So, is Buff Bagwell headed back into the ring? Here’s the latest on Buff Bagwell’s return to TNA.
Buff Bagwell Returns to Frankie Kazarian Confrontation
Buff Bagwell’s return to pro wrestling wasn’t on our 2026 bingo card, but here we are. The former WCW Tag Team Champion hasn’t wrestled since his last known match in 2024. Just last year, Buff Bagwell underwent a leg amputation, tied to lasting effects from a 2020 car crash. Less than a year later, Buff is the Stuff because he walked out onto the stage to mark his return to TNA.
In front of the College Park, Georgia crowd, Buff Bagwell declared to Gia Miller that it’s his goal to have one more match. This statement caused TNA veteran Frankie Kazarian to come out and mock the WCW legend. The disrespectful Kaz made jokes about Buff’s amputated leg, leading to a verbal altercation between the two ring veterans. Before things could get physical, the strum of Elijah’s guitar made the save.
Buff Bagwell to Walk with Elijah?
Elijah made his way to the stage, running off the former AEW Tag Team Champion. Kaz left Elijah and Buff Bagwell to share a moment with the Georgia crowd.
The ex-Elias let Buff Bagwell know that tonight was the nWo legend’s night. He promised to take care of Kaz later. Elijah will team with The Home Town Man to face AJ Francis & Frankie Kazarian tonight at TNA Sacrifice in Louisiana.
It’s unknown if Buff Bagwell will be in attendance for the event. However, Elijah teased that it wasn’t the end of Buff Bagwell’s return to TNA.
After Kazarian joked that Bagwell couldn’t walk to the ring, Elijah told the new amputee that when he’s ready, he can walk with Elijah. It’s believed that tonight’s Tag Team encounter will become an angle to launch the final match of Buff Bagwell.
Buff Bagwell was recently joined by his nWo brethren, Konnan, in losing a leg. Seeing Buff Bagwell bounce back so quickly, and while sober, is truly inspirational.
We don’t blame Buff Bagwell for wanting one more moment in the sun. Even The Sandman is having one last match during this year’s WrestleMania Week.
It’s one thing for Buff Bagwell to walk again. Wrestling is another. While it’s only been two years since he’s wrestled, it’s been almost 20 years since it was on a national stage.
Buff Bagwell’s Past TNA Run
Buff Bagwell’s post-WCW run was a rocky one. The former Vicious and Delicious member admits that he had a bad drug and alcohol problem, in addition to various injuries.
When TNA launched, Buff Bagwell was to be an integral part of the operation. In fact, Buff Bagwell was in the World Title Gauntlet for the Gold Match on the first-ever NWA-TNA PPV event. He’d make a couple more appearances over the next few weeks before fizzling out of the company.
Buff Bagwell made a brief return to TNA in 2006. He was introduced as an ex-WCW star who could potentially team with Sting to take on Jeff Jarrett and Scott Steiner at Sacrifice 2006. Bagwell even got into a backstage brawl with Jarrett during this time frame. In the end, Sting chose Samoa Joe, and the two went on to victory.
Meanwhile, Buff Bagwell wrestled at a couple of House Show Matches, teaming with the likes of Ron “The Truth” Killings and Rhino. However, TNA never extended a full-time deal to Bagwell.
