Woll has posted a 15-13-6 record in 35 appearances, with a .906 save percentage. It will be a homecoming of sorts for Woll, facing off against his hometown team. Woll starred in the youth circuit for the St. Louis Blues AAA program, before joining the U.S. National Development Team in 2014-15.
The 27-year-old is coming off a 40-save performance in a 4-3 victory over the New York Rangers. Throughout a tumultuous season for the Maple Leafs, Woll has clearly taken on the No. 1 starting role. Woll spoke about his team’s uptick in physicality over the past few weeks, following Thursday’s win.
“I think the biggest thing has been guys stepping up and watching out for other guys,” Woll said. “That’s the intensity you have to play with, and I just think we are playing a lot harder, and it’s awesome to see. Hopefully, we carry that momentum.”
There are few other changes from Thursday’s winning lineup. Michael Pezzetta will re-enter on the fourth line alongside Jacob Quillan and Calle Jarnkrok. Toronto sent Bo Groulx down to the AHL’s Toronto Marlies, ostensibly to ensure that he remains eligible for the AHL playoffs. Groulx made the most of his opportunity with the Maple Leafs, registering three goals and five points in nine games, potentially carving out a larger role for the 2026-27 campaign.
Ahead of Saturday’s slate, Toronto ranks 23rd in the NHL. Maple Leafs fans will be carefully observing the final games of the year, as the Bruins hold onto their first-round pick, unless it slots into the top five.
