Caleb Lomu Background

Position: Offensive Tackle

Utah

Size:
6-foot-6, 313 Pounds

2025 stats: First Team All-Big 12

Lomu was a four-star recruit in the class of 2023 who signed with Utah out of Arizona. He played in three games and redshirted in 2023. For the 2024 season, Lomu started every game at left tackle. Utah won just five games with his help that season. In 2025, Lomu earned First Team All-Big 12 honors for his play. His play helped the Utes improve to an 11-win season.

Following the season, Lomu declared for the 2026 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a first or second-round pick.

Caleb Lomu Strengths

Lomu is a great athlete for the position and tested well at the NFL Combine. He gets out of his stance quickly, showing good acceleration to start plays. Lomu has good range as a run blocker, with the ability to get to the second level. In pass protection, he shows good agility to stay in front of pass rushers.

He is better at pass protection at this point of his career. Lomu moves smoothly as he pass sets. He is able to mirror pass rushers well with his solid agility. Lomu also has a nice anchor, given that he is a player that is still filling out his frame. He handles speed and power rushers well and should be ready to play as a pass blocker right away.

Despite being a young player, Lomu has shown the ability to stay calm under pressure. He recognizes where pressure is coming from and can pick it up. Lomu is able to pass blocks off and pick up twisting rushers. His ability to handle pressure well at such an early point in his development should really help his game translate.

Caleb Lomu Weaknesses

Lomu needs to fill out his frame a bit more. He weighed in at 313 pounds at the NFL Combine, but looked like he played at a bit of a lighter weight. His frame is solid, but he doesn’t have the greatest power element to his game. Adding play strength can help him sustain blocks longer and anchor longer.

His run blocking is still developing. He can get to the second level and hit those targets, but Lomu can struggle to clear holes in the running game. Adding strength will help him control those blocks, but he also needs to make sure that his technique is in line to help in this regard as well.

He can continue to improve his hand usage. Lomu can improve his hand timing and getting his hands on defenders earlier in reps. He also needs ot keep his hands inside to control his matchups and not get called for holding. With stronger and quicker hands, Lomu really raises his floor as a prospect.

Projected Draft Range: First Round Pick-Second Round Pick

Draft Grade: Second Round Pick
