The New Zealander kept things tight and used swing and bounce smartly. He finished with excellent figures of 3/22, setting the tone for the match.

His opening spell proved decisive and earned him the Player of the Match award on debut.

Ishan Kishan’s Captain’s Knock & 3,000 Runs

SRH were struggling at 29/3 when Ishan Kishan stepped up and changed the momentum. He played an aggressive innings, scoring 80 off just 38 balls with eight fours and five sixes.

During this knock, Kishan also crossed the 3,000-run mark in the IPL, becoming one of the youngest players to reach the milestone.

His innings pulled SRH back into the game and gave them a fighting total.

Phil Salt’s “Screamer”

The turning point came in the 16th over when Phil Salt produced a moment of brilliance in the field. Stationed at point, he dived full stretch to his right and took a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss Kishan.

The catch came at a crucial time, with Kishan looking set to take SRH past 220. Instead, the wicket slowed their finish and shifted momentum back to RCB.

Virat Kohli’s Masterclass Finish

Chasing 202, RCB got momentum early thanks to Devdutt Padikkal’s attacking start. From there, Virat Kohli took control and paced the innings perfectly.

Kohli stayed unbeaten on 69 off 38 balls and ensured there were no major hiccups in the chase. His calm approach balanced aggression with control.

In the 16th over, with the game still alive, Kohli took on Harshal Patel and hit 6, 4, 4, 4 in four balls. That burst sealed the match and ended any hopes for SRH.

RCB completed the chase with ease, finishing the game with nearly four overs to spare.

Match Talking Points

RCB’s win was built on strong moments across all phases. Duffy’s early wickets, Salt’s sharp fielding, and Kohli’s finishing came together perfectly.

SRH had their chances, especially through Kishan’s brilliant knock, but lost momentum at key stages.

In the end, it was RCB’s ability to control pressure moments that made the difference. This win gives them a strong start and early confidence in IPL 2026.
