Newcastle defeat Man City, Man U, Chelsea to win Premier League International Tournament

A brilliant effort as Chelsea, Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Manchester City all defeated by United.

Newcastle United winning the Premier League U15 International Tournament this weekend.

The tournament was held at Chelsea’s Cobham Training Centre and Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and PSG were among the teams also competing in the tournament.

The Newcastle United Under15s defeated Crystal Palace and Manchester United in their group.

That allowed them to progress to the semi-finals where they defeated hosts Chelsea on penalties.

Before finally it was Manchester City put to the sword in the final on Sunday.

A brilliant effort from all concerned.

With Academy Director Steve Harper declaring: “The staff and players did everyone proud. They were magnificent. What an incredible achievement from all of the players and staff involved. To emerge as deserved winners in a competition featuring many of the elite youth academies of not only the Premier League but Europe too, reflects a huge amount of effort from every department at the Academy.”

Great to see things going well in the younger age groups.

It will of course take time but it is so refreshing after a decade and a half of Mike Ashley refusing to allow any serious investment in the future of Newcastle United.

Steve Harper summing up this achievement by the Newcastle United Under15s this weekend: “The boys gave absolutely everything in every minute of every game. An enormously proud day for everyone connected to the Academy and football club.”
