How Jannik Sinner and Jiří Lehečka Reached the 2026 Miami Open Final

Sinner arrived in Miami as one of the hottest players on tour, already riding the momentum of a title run at Indian Wells and chasing the elusive “Sunshine Double.” Ranked world No. 2, the Italian had been nearly untouchable throughout the tournament, not dropping a set en route to the championship match.

He began his campaign with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Damir Džumhur, followed by a commanding 6-1, 6-4 win against Corentin Moutet. His sternest challenge came versus Alex Michelsen, where he rallied from 2-5 down in the second set to seal a 7-5, 7-6(4) triumph. After that, Sinner regained complete control, overpowering Frances Tiafoe 6-2, 6-2 before overcoming third seed Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6(4) to secure his spot in the final.

On the other side, Lehečka was in the midst of a breakthrough run. The Czech opened his run with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over French Wild Card Moise Kouamé, then followed it up with a 6-3, 7-6(6) win against Ethan Quinn.

He delivered a major upset by defeating sixth seed Taylor Fritz 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-2 in the round of 16, edged past Spanish qualifier Martin Landaluce 7-6(1), 7-5 in the quarterfinals, and went on to overpower 28th seed Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinals to reach his maiden Masters 1000 final.

Christopher Eubanks’ Dedication During the Miami Open Rain Delay

As the stadium emptied and conditions deteriorated, Eubanks remained visible in the stands, calmly continuing his on-air responsibilities despite the downpour, using towels as makeshift protection. Clips of him braving the rain circulated on social media shortly after the delay, highlighting his dedication to the role.

Once play resumed, Sinner closed out the match 6-4, 6-4 to complete his dominant run. This win marked a historic milestone as Sinner became the first man since Roger Federer in 2017 to complete the “Sunshine Double,” winning both Indian Wells and Miami back-to-back.

The tournament was a record-breaking campaign for the world No. 2, who extended his unprecedented streak of consecutive sets won at the ATP Masters 1000 level to 34 by the end of the final.
