The Momentum Multiply Titans kept their composure in a tense, back-and-forth final to secure the 2025/26 1Day Cup title, edging past the DP World Lions by three wickets in Johannesburg on Sunday.
Chasing 249, the Titans reached their target on the penultimate delivery, finishing on 249/7 in 49.5 overs to wrap up a thrilling win in a match that swung both ways right until the end.
After choosing to bat first, the Lions posted 248/9 in their 50 overs, with Rassie van der Dussen leading the charge with 57. Temba Bavuma added a valuable 43 off 42 balls, helping to lay a steady foundation in an innings built on partnerships rather than dominance.
The Lions never quite broke loose, but timely contributions and late runs pushed them to a competitive total.
Lizaad Williams led the Titans’ bowling effort with 3/49, striking at key moments to prevent the Lions from building sustained momentum, while the rest of the attack backed him up with disciplined spells.
In response, the Titans’ chase was anything but straightforward. Regular wickets kept the pressure on and the required rate in check, forcing them to carefully manage the innings rather than go on the attack.
Keegan Petersen played a crucial role with a composed 90, holding the innings together under pressure. He was well supported by Duan Jansen, who produced a match-winning unbeaten 61, showing great calm in the closing stages.
Despite that, the Lions kept fighting, with Beyers Swanepoel (3/44) and Cody Yusuf (3/43) ensuring the contest went down to the final over.
In the end, the Titans held their nerve to get over the line with one ball to spare, sealing a dramatic victory in a high-quality final.
