Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Vows To Hook Up Thunder Fan With New Signature Shoes After K Half-Court Shot

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander kept his MVP run going Sunday night, leading the Oklahoma City Thunder to another strong win over the New York Knicks. But the highlight of the night wasn’t limited to the court.

Inside Paycom Center, one lucky fan stole the spotlight by drilling a half-court shot to win $20,000, prompting Gilgeous-Alexander to step in with a promise that made the moment even more memorable.

Gilgeous-Alexander struggled through the first three quarters on Sunday, shooting 5-of-15 while scoring 20 points. However, he flipped the switch in the final frame, pouring in 10 points and knocking down all three of his shots to power Oklahoma City to a 111-100 victory.

During a break in the action, one fan electrified the crowd by calmly drilling a half-court shot without even taking a running start. The shot capped off an already big night for him, as he had also won a free-throw contest earlier, bringing his total winnings to $20,000. The arena erupted, with Gilgeous-Alexander among those celebrating the moment.

The fan later said he planned to use part of his winnings to buy Gilgeous-Alexander’s signature Converse SHAI 001 “Echo” colorway. The Thunder star, however, had other plans.

“That was pretty cool. I’ll try to figure out who he is and I’m gonna get him a pair. They don’t cost $10,000, so he doesn’t have to worry about that,” Gilgeous-Alexander said postgame.

The Thunder, meanwhile, are rolling and remain the favorites to win it all as they improved to 14-1 in their last 15 games and 59-16 for the season, while SGA scored 30+ points for the 42nd time this season.

He finished with 30 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists, going 8-of-18 from the field and 13-of-16 from the free-throw line with a +13 rating. He also extended his streak of 20+ point games, continuing a historic scoring run in a season where he is averaging 31.4 points.

Oklahoma City closed the game on a 19-9 run in the closing minutes to seal the win and will look to keep the momentum going when they face the Detroit Pistons on the second night of a back-to-back to push toward a second straight 60-win season.
