Arsenal now in talks to sign 17-goal Gabriel Jesus replacement

Arsenal have been stepping up their pursuit of a “pacy” striker, following a fresh update on Gabriel Jesus’ future at the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta is very well-stocked at centre-forward, with Viktor Gyokeres, Kai Havertz and Jesus to choose from, which means game time has often been limited for the Brazilian, who has failed to make it off the bench during the last four Premier League matches.

At 28-years-old, the former Manchester City man is at an age where he needs to be playing regular football, and given that he isn’t one of Arteta’s most important players, it could make sense to cash-in during the summer transfer window.

TEAMtalk have now revealed the north Londoners would be willing to part ways with the centre-forward, should he decide to seek pastures new, and he is genuinely considering a return to Brazil, having been allowed to train with Palmeiras during the current international break.

Having started only two Premier League games this season, losing the 64-time Brazil international arguably wouldn’t be a major blow for Arteta, and a potential replacement has now been identified.

Arsenal open negotiations to sign “pacy” striker

According to reporter Christian Falk, Arsenal have now opened talks about a deal for Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi, who they are seriously keen on signing, and they are the frontrunners in the race for his signature.

With Havertz and Jesus both struggling on the injury front in recent times, the Gunners are looking to bring in a new striker, and Tresoldi, who Falk believes is the “future of Germany in the striker position”, has emerged as an option.

As revealed by Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Club Brugge are expected to demand up to €30m (£26m) for the forward, who has been in fantastic form this season, netting 17 goals across all competitions.

A deal for the 21-year-old wouldn’t break the bank for a club like Arsenal, and the youngster has previously been lauded by scout Ben Mattinson.

With Jesus potentially heading for the exit door, it would make sense to bring in a young striker, who may be more content with playing a more sporadic role, and Tresoldi fits the bill.
