Packers’ Brian Gutekunst Provides Notable Update On Micah Parsons Amid DE’s ACL Injury Recovery

The status of Green Bay Packers star defensive end Micah Parsons remains a big topic in the offseason, particularly about his recovery from a devastating knee injury.

It can be recalled that the former Penn State Nittany Lions star and five-time Pro Bowl pass rusher went down with a torn ACL injury late in the 2025 NFL season, his first with Green  Bay. Such an injury almost always requires surgery and at least several months of rehabilitation.

It is an unfortunate injury that very likely will keep Parsons from joining his team on the field by Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season.

Packers GM sounds off on communication with Parsons

Nevertheless, Green Bay general manager Brian Gutekunst sounded positive and optimistic when he talked about Parsons on Monday.

Here’s what Gutekunst said about Parsons (via a video shared by Matt Schneidman of The Athletic):

“No, everything’s good. I think we’re training was down there with him not too long ago and came back with really good, it’s daily kind of communication. So he’s a exceptional athlete. We’re hoping that that takes over here pretty quick and the process goes fast. Part of the way he’s kind of taken ownership of that room too. He said those videos like him and Barryn [Sorrell]. Yeah. And kind of working out with them this off season.”

Yeah, again, when you require a player, you never really 100% know when they enter your environment, how it’s gonna be, but I couldn’t be happier with how he’s kind of embraced Green Bay and embrace our team and his teammates. The leadership that he’s shown, he’s all football, you know what I mean? And I think that’s the thing for me that just gets me excited to see where he’s gonna go as a Green Bay Packer.”

During his first season with the Packers, Parsons appeared in 14 games (13 starts) and produced 12.5 sacks, 41 combined tackles and 27 quarterback hits to go with a pass defended and two forced fumbles.
