Liverpool travel to face Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on April 4.

The Reds’ season had been mixed so far, with Arne Slot’s side having failed to defend their Premier League crown despite cruising to the title last term.

The Merseyside outfit are through to the last eight of the Champions League, though, and will book their place in a semi-final at Wembley if they get the better of the Citizens at The Etihad in their next outing.

Ahead of that game, it is emerging that Liverpool are preparing to battle it out with one of their fiercest rivals in the race to sign a Ligue 1 midfielder.

According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool are one of three Premier League sides monitoring AS Monaco’s Lamine Camara.

It is claimed that both Chelsea and Newcastle United are also interested in the Senegal international, who starred for his country at the African Cup of Nations at the turn of the year.

Chelsea are said to have been scouring the French top flight for potential transfer targets and have identified Camara, 22, as a potential target to bolster their midfield.

Both the Blues and the Reds have scouted the Senegalese midfielder this term, the report claims, with Camara boasting a number of impressive attributes.

The midfielder joined Monaco from fellow French side Metz in 2024 and has now made a total of 65 appearances for his current side across all competitions.

Camara is contracted to Monaco until the summer of 2029, but it appears increasingly likely that the Ligue 1 side will receive interest in the player when the transfer window reopens.

Monaco have previously adopted a policy of developing young players before selling them for huge amount to some of Europe’s biggest clubs, and it appears that Camara could be the next player to depart the club for a significant amount.
