Ed Policy Announces 2 Possible NFL International Games In 2026 NFL Season

The Green Bay Packers last played an international game in 2024. That year, they faced off against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week One down in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Before that, Green Bay traveled to London, England in 2022 to face the New York Giants.

The Packers lost both games.

Green Bay did not play an international game in 2025, much to the relief of fans. However, they just might be on the docket for one of two international games in 2026.

On Tuesday morning, it was reported that Ed Policy, the Packers CEO and President, told the media that the Packers could possibly play one of two international games in 2026:

As reported by Matt Schneidman above, Green Bay faces the possibility of either playing against the Detroit Lions in Munich, Germany or the New Orleans Saints in Paris, France. Both teams are already known as two 2026 opponents that the Packers would face on the road, and both teams have already been announced as hosting a home game in those respective cities this upcoming season.

The way that international scheduling is going, there will come a time when every NFL team plays at least one game overseas every year. That is just the reality of the situation.

However, Packers fans are rightfully pessimistic about these international games. In 2022, Aaron Rodgers broke his hand against the Giants in London, an injury that affected him for the rest of the season. In 2024, Jordan Love suffered a sprained MCL in Brazil, and missed two games. Additionally, then defensive tackle Kenny Clark suffered a toe injury in that loss to the Eagles, an injury that led to the worst season of his career.

If Green Bay does have to travel to Europe this year, hopefully they can escape that game without any major injuries.
