Roma Attached to Unhappy Inter Defender Carlos Augusto

Inter are keen on extending the contract of Carlos Augusto, but he’s biding his time, as he’s not particularly thrilled with his current situation, as he’s playing a lot less due to Federico Dimarco’s terrific season, and he’s been proposed by his agent to Atalanta, Juventus, and especially Roma, La Repubblica reports (via Tribuna).

The Brazilian is represented by Giuseppe Riso. He alsobhas Giallorossi stars Gianluca Mancini and Bryan Cristante, who are about to get an extension, and young loanee Lorenzo Venturino among his clients.

Carlos Augusto is looking around as he’d like to star more regularly, and Roma and Atalanta would give him that opportunity. However, Inter value him about €25M, which doesn’t facilitate his exit. He joined the Nerazzurri from Monza for about €13M, taking advantage of his contractual situation at the time. He has accumulated 133 appearances, 6 goals, and 12 assists so far, despite generally serving as the second fiddle in a couple of roles.

According to Corriere dello Sport, if the fullback really decided to ask out, and the Giallorossi put pedal to the metal to acquire him, he could be involved in the negotiation for Manu Koné. The capital club currently plans to let go of Zeki Celik, whose deal is about to expire, because his demands are too rich, and move Wesley back to the right wing.

Our Take on Inter, Roma, and Carlos Augusto

He’s no Dimarco, but he was quite the force at Monza. He has occasionally been very good at San Siro too. His possible exit could be a nice opportunity for several teams, especially those using 3-5-2. It wouldn’t be too shabby for the Nerazzurri either, as they would be able to turn a nice profit on somebody who isn’t a fixture.
