Washington Wizards big man Anthony Davis is progressing in his recovery from ligament damage in his left hand and has been cleared for light contact, the team announced.

After a reevaluation on Monday, his recovery remains on schedule as the injury continues to heal.

Following his acquisition at the February trade deadline, there was uncertainty about whether Davis would play this season.

While some reports suggested he might be done for the year, general manager Will Dawkins said he expected a return before April 12.

However, with fewer than two weeks left in the season, it now seems unlikely Davis will suit up.

Washington is tied with Indiana for the league’s worst record at 17-58, improving its odds in the upcoming lottery.

Davis has appeared in just 20 games this season, all with Dallas, averaging 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.7 blocks.

He has two years and about $121.2MM left on his contract, including a player option.
