April 2, 2026 — To celebrate an anniversary

It was in the fall of 2009 that our site created a special logo to celebrate the 100th anniversary of scholastic field hockey in the United States:

This month, we do the same for lacrosse:

Our logo has the number 100 in blue, rather than the red of the field hockey commorative logo. The hollow parts of the zeroes has a vintage wooden lacrosse stick as well as a modern lacrosse stick with a yellow molded head, signifying the changes in the sport over the years.

At the bottom of the shield is a one-room schoolhouse, and the ribbon at the bottom has the word “baggataway” in it, which is the Algonquin word for the game of lacrosse.

In a couple of weekends, we’ll be at the centennial game between Philadelphia Penn Charter (Pa.) and Baltimore Bryn Mawr (Md.). Appropriately, the game will be played at Rosabelle Sinclair Field just off Northern Parkway.

Should be a grand occasion.
