Both men spoke at a press conference ahead of their April 3 clash. Below is some of what they had to say.
Pat Brown vs. Vasil Ducar press conference quotes
Pat Brown
“It’s great [to be back in Altrincham],” said Brown. “Obviously, come here today and all the memories come flooding back. This is where it started. I remember everyone was there cheering and stuff. This is pro boxing. If you want to be the best thing and you want to make it to the top, the pressure comes with it. I believe that the way I started me career and obviously 5-0 and stuff, [Ducar’s] definitely a step up, but every fight has been a step up for me. Every single record is a positive record. They’ve all come to change their careers and change their lives. That’s what I’m all about…”
“It’s hard to say really [whether I’m bothered about getting rounds to quickly knocking people out]. When I’m outside the ring like this, I’m not that bothered. I’m just easy come, easy go. I defintely do want the rounds because when you’re getting to the top, you need to have that experience. It’s so important because there comes a point where power can only take you so far…but I do enjoy actually boxing and showing the technical side of things, which I’m excited to show this Friday because I know I’m going to have to do that against [Ducar]…”
Vasil Ducar
“I think he’s on a great place,” said Ducar. “Great recognition. He’s a good fighter. I saw it. He’s strong, aggressive. I must be ready from the first round. When we want to make a good fight, we need a good opponent. So I think we can go together and make a good fight.”
“Myself, myself, myself [is what I bring that Brown has not yet seen]. Inside me there’s the spirit of a warrior.”
Fight prediction
From Big Fight Weekend’s Ricky Carroll: Brown has walked through every opponent with relative ease thus far. Ducar is durable and will not be afraid to throw his punches, but Brown is heavier-handed than most. We expect the Manchester fighter to feel his opponent out before stepping on the gas and winning by stoppage in round four.
