The Green Bay Packers made moves in free agency to bolster their roster, adding defensive tackle Javon Hargrave along with several complementary players on both sides of the ball. Still, bringing in new pieces won’t count for much if the team’s culture in Green Bay is starting to falter.
Packers insider Matt Schneidman shared some worrying updates on a recent podcast, citing Matt LaFleur, who admitted that a few players didn’t fully buy in during the 2025 season.
Matt Schneidman on Matt LaFleur and the Packers
“He said there were players last season who were disappointed with their roles, and LaFleur’s quote was ‘I think that took a toll on the team,’” the Packers insider commented during his appearance in The Tundra podcast.
We don’t know who exactly Matt LaFleur was referring to and if they’re even still on the team, but @kuhnj30 was alarmed, nonetheless.

His co-host, former member of the Packers John Kuhn, voiced concern over Matt LaFleur’s acknowledgment that some players weren’t fully committed during last season.
“I’m actually shocked by this. That players being upset with their roles could be what really led to the team’s demise,” Kuhn remarked.

Schneidman noted that LaFleur didn’t specify which player he was referring to, leaving open the possibility that the individual is no longer on the roster. Still, Kuhn explained why this remains a concerning sign for the Packers.
“There was a feeling around Green Bay that the locker room was finally in its zen state. That everyone was bought in, and it was player-driven. You had leaders in Rashan Gary, Micah Parsons, Xavier McKinney. Leaders on the offensive side in Jordan Love, Josh Jacobs, and Christian Watson… You just start to look around now and speculate.”
Packers fans have reason to worry as indications show Matt LaFleur’s hold on the locker room may be slipping. Green Bay will face pressure to produce in the 2026 season, or significant roster and coaching changes could be on the horizon.
