Stars blank Jets 3-0 in season-series finale
The Winnipeg Jets continued their three-game road trip tonight in Dallas, Texas, in their final matchup of the season with the Dallas Stars, looking to continue their playoff push at American Airlines Center.

Dallas capitalized on its first power play of the contest at 9:43 when Matt Duchene banked his 16th of the season in off Connor Hellebuyck, who wasn’t properly up against his post, to open the scoring and make it 1-0.

Just 1:29 after Duchene’s opening tally, Alex Iafallo turned the puck over and Jamie Benn completed a tic-tac-toe passing play with Arttu Hyry, who finished off his second of the season to put Winnipeg down by a pair quickly.

Adam Erne pushed the lead to three 2:15 into the second period when he redirected a point shot from Liam Bichsel past Hellebuyck for his sixth of the year.

The Jets announced that defenceman Elias Salomonsson’s night was done due to an upper-body injury after he was on the bad end of a reverse hit from Stars forward Jason Robertson midway through the game.

INJURY UPDATE: #NHLJets D – Elias Salomonsson will not return to tonight’s game.

In a game where Dallas dictated nearly every aspect of the contest, along with a solid performance by Jake Oettinger, it ultimately led to a 3-0 shutout win for the Stars, Winnipeg’s first shutout loss since Jan. 20. Hellebuyck made 18 saves as the Jets fell to 32-31-12.

Dallas swept the season series (3-1-0), and Winnipeg remains two points out of the final wild card spot, though the gap will grow after Nashville and L.A. play later tonight. Nashville has 77 points, one ahead of Winnipeg, while L.A. currently holds WC2 with 78 points.

Winnipeg will complete its three-game road trip on Saturday in Columbus when they take on former head coach Rick Bowness and the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena. Puck drop is set for 6:00 p.m. CT on SNW.
