Byron Saxton Mourns the Passing of His Mother After Cancer Battle

Byron Saxton shared heartbreaking news over the weekend, revealing that his mother has passed away following a long fight with cancer.

Saxton took to Instagram to confirm that his mother, Gladys D. Kelly, died in the early hours of March 28, 2026, explaining that he and his sister were by her side in her final moments.

“On Saturday morning, March 28th, 2026 at 2:06am, my sister and I watched as our mom’s spirit officially departed this earth and ascended to her residence of eternity in heaven.”

In his message, Saxton provided more context about the difficult journey his family had been on, revealing that his mother had been battling Stage IV colon cancer for nearly a year — a fight that involved constant treatments and incredible resilience.

“For nearly 11 months, my family and I have been entrenched in my mom’s battle against Stage IV Colon Cancer. Through every dietary change, supplement consumption, experimental treatments and hospitalizations, it was my mom who served as the frontline soldier against this debilitating disease while my family took up arms and fought alongside her every step of the way.”

Saxton then opened up about the emotional impact of the loss, describing the void left behind while also reflecting on the strength and legacy his mother leaves with him and his family.

“Losing my mom has split my heart in two and created a void that will never be replaced. However, that void will be surrounded by cherished memories of a woman who moved to the United States from her native country of Haiti at the age of 19, established a 50-year cosmetology career and served as the steadfast nucleus of a united family.”

He also pointed to the lesson she left behind — one that was shaped by her fight over the past year and the way she carried herself through it. Saxton closed the post by honoring her life, sharing her name and dates in a final tribute.

“Even through the darkest of times, don’t stop fighting, stay strong and smile. I love you mom. I anxiously await the day that I will see you and my father again in heaven with our almighty Lord.

Gladys D. Kelly

RIP”

It’s a devastating loss for Saxton, and his post makes it clear just how much his mother meant to him — not just as a parent, but as the foundation of their entire family and someone who kept fighting until the very end.
