Bobby Laing vs Russ Kimber Set for “Rumble at the Rink II” in QuincyUndefeated Bobby Laing Faces Russ Kimber at Rumble at the Rink II in Massachusetts

QUINCY, Massachusetts — An intriguing clash between rising light heavyweight Bobby Laing and veteran Russ Kimber could emerge as one of the most entertaining fights on the Rumble at the Rink II card scheduled for May 16 at the Quincy Youth Arena.

Presented by Granite Chin Promotions, the event will feature several local fighters and special appearances while streaming live on BXNGTV.

Laing Bringing Rough N’ Rowdy Experience Into the Pros

Laing (2-0, 2 KOs), fighting out of Braintree, built his early following competing in Rough N’ Rowdy, the popular fight series formerly promoted by Barstool Sports.

After competing in 11 Rough N’ Rowdy bouts, Laing transitioned into professional boxing and has quickly started his career with two knockout victories.

“Rough N’ Rowdy was my amateur boxing,” correction officer Laing said. “I’ve carried my popularity into boxing. I hope to be 3-0 after this fight and keep going from there. I want to keep winning and position myself for a big fight. I was known as a brawler, but I’ve changed my style.

“I think this fight will be pretty fast paced. There are only 4 rounds and no time for feeling out. We’ll start fighting and keep it going all the way.”

Kimber Carries Family Legacy into the Ring

Kimber (3-3, 1 KO), a fitness instructor from Salem with strong ties to Peabody, comes from a decorated combat sports family.

His father Dick Kimber and uncle Tommy Kimber were both legendary kickboxers from Lynn, Massachusetts, winning multiple world championships between them.

However, Russ Kimber has carved his own path inside the boxing ring.

“I’ve carried on the Kimber name because I’m a fighter,” Russ explained, “but I’m different from them because I’m a boxer and they were kickboxers. I’ve taken my own path.

“I know my opponent was in ‘Rough N’ Rowdy’ and that he’s working on his game and craft. I think he’ll come out aggressively until he starts to tier. From his ‘Rough N’ Rowdy’ days, I expect him to come out swinging. I plan to use my boxing skills from the outside. I adapt to my opponent, so I’ll go inside and see how he handles that. I never go into a fight looking for a knockout, I just land my punches.”

Ryan Kielczweski Headlines Event in Ring Return

Headlining the card will be former world-ranked contender Ryan Kielczweski, who returns to the ring after a four-year hiatus in an eight-round junior welterweight bout.

Nicknamed “The Polish Prince,” the 36-year-old MBTA police officer enjoyed a successful amateur career with a 118-26 record, including a silver medal at the National Golden Gloves in 2008 and two New England Golden Gloves titles.

Kielczweski won his first 22 professional fights between 2008 and 2015 and will now compete in his hometown of Quincy for the first time since 2016.

Strong Local Card Features Rising Talent

Also appearing on the card will be junior featherweight Jenn Perella of Milton, Massachusetts, who faces Ireland’s Kate Radomska.

Perella brings an accomplished amateur background that includes a silver medal at the 2024 National Golden Gloves and a 2016 New England Golden Gloves championship.

Butterbean and Micky Ward Add Star Power

Fans attending the event will also get the chance to meet boxing personalities during the event’s “Fan Zone.”

Heavyweight knockout legend Eric Esch, better known as Butterbean, will make a special appearance and referee a professional midget wrestling match between Cambodian Dragon and Walter, presented by Midget Mayhem Wrestling.

Butterbean will also participate in a meet-and-greet alongside Massachusetts boxing icon Micky Ward.

Event Supports Quincy Fire Cancer Foundation

Granite Chin Promotions has once again partnered with the Quincy Fire Cancer Foundation, with a portion of event proceeds supporting firefighters and their families affected by occupational cancer.

The organization provides resources and assistance to firefighters facing the long-term health risks associated with their profession.
