BingwaFest National 10s finalists known after thrilling knock out matches

The Finalists for the BingwaFest Nationals 10s have been confirmed  following hard-fought battles across both the men’s and women’s categories.

In the women’s Cup, Kiambaa Community  and Jackals  booked their spots in the final after impressive runs from the quarter-finals. Kiambaa were ruthless from the onset, dismantling Tharaka University 80-0 in the quarters before seeing off a spirited Mwira Rugby side 27-7 in the semi-finals.

Jackals (W), on the other hand, showed consistency and control, beating Blad Academy  22-0 in the quarters and edging Nakuru Development 17-12 in a tightly contested semi-final.

The two losing semi-finalists, Mwira Rugby and Nakuru Development, will now face off in the bronze final, each looking to finish their campaign on a high after strong tournament runs.

In the men’s Cup, KEMU Pitbulls and Menengai Oilers emerged as the top two sides and will clash in what promises to be a gripping final. KEMU Pitbulls began their knockout journey with a dominant 24-0 win over Blak Blad in the quarter-finals before edging Daystar Falcons 15-10 in a tense semi-final encounter. Menengai Oilers were equally impressive, brushing aside Stingerz 17-0 in the quarters and following it up with a solid 14-5 win over Masinde Muliro Rugby in the semi-finals.

Daystar Falcons and Masinde Muliro Rugby, who fell at the semi-final stage, will meet in the bronze playoff, both sides having shown quality throughout the competition.

Earlier in the Challenge Trophy, Meru University completed a strong run to lift the title. They cruised past Molo Development 17-0 in the quarter-finals, overcame Jackals 10-0 in the semis, and sealed the trophy with a narrow 5-0 victory over Sigalagala Poly in the final. Sigalagala had reached the final after edging Makueni Rugby 12-10 and defeating Kisumu Development 12-5 in the semis.
