T20 World Cup Celebrations Take Center Stage

When Rohit Sharma and the T20 World Cup trophy became the focal points of festivities ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi, the euphoria of India’s victory in the T20 World Cup earlier this year were brought back to Mumbai.

Mounted atop a car decked out like the open bus that the Indian team displayed along Marine Drive in Mumbai upon their return from Barbados earlier this year was an idol of Lord Ganesha with Rohit’s placard on top.

Social media users have been sharing the procession’s little video clip nonstop.

In June of this year, the US and the West Indies jointly hosted the T20 World Cup. In an exciting final, India overcame South Africa by seven runs to claim the title.

Since then, both Rohit and Virat Kohli have stepped down from the T20Is. Nonetheless, Rohit still leads India in cricket’s ODIs and Test matches.

The pair will return to play for India’s first Test swing, which consists of 10 red-ball contests over the course of the next five months, during the two-Test home series against Bangladesh.

Following their match against Bangladesh, India will play a three-Test series at home against New Zealand before starting their five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy trip to Australia.
