Start the countdown clock for AEW Dynasty taking place on Sunday, April 12 from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. A few more fights have been added to the card, and we all know that Tony Khan will add many more in the week to come. One big question is where does Chris Jericho fit.
The updated lineup for Dynasty includes:
MJF and Kenny Omega officially signed the contract for the world title bout at Dynasty. The angle is The Devil versus The God of Professional Wrestling. Don’t forget that MJF is also an American hero. Big Hebrew showed that by entering Winnipeg to defend the gold against “Speedball” Mike Bailey this past week. MJF will enter hostile territory again versus Canadian Omega in Vancouver.
Jamie Hayter has beaten Thekla in the past, and she is ready to do it again. Hayter called out the champ for a fight. The feud between Adam Copeland and FTR is personal, so Cope is bringing Christian Cage along to take what means most to Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler. That would be the world tag titles. If C&C happen to end the careers of FTR as well, then that would be icing on the cake for Cope. Will Ospreay requested that Jon Moxley put up the Continental Championship. Due to the continental rules, that means nobody ringside. Ospreay would have 20 minutes to beat Moxley bloody. Darby Allin is coming for the world title. MJF is paying the Callis Family to make sure Allin doesn’t get a shot. To encourage Allin to take a fight, MJF is willing to grant him a future title match if he can beat Andrade. That is assuming MJF still holds the gold after Dynasty. Andrade is not keen on this deal, because he wants a shot for himself.
That sums up the official PPV matches so far. Expect four or five more bouts added to the card. Will one of them have Chris Jericho?
Jericho made a surprise return last week on Dynamite in Winnipeg to say that he is home in AEW. Jericho will speak again this week on Dynamite. That should tell us the direction if he plans to compete on the PPV.
It will be interesting to see who steps up to Jericho. I mean someone eventually will for his return match. I’m working with the assumption that Jericho will be a babyface for at least one bout due to the fan reaction in Canada. Swerve Strickland is the highest-profile heel that needs a match for Dynasty. If AEW wants Jericho to win, perhaps finishing the Learning Tree story with Big Bill and Bryan Keith is the move.
