Liverpool return to Champions League action on Wednesday when they visit holders Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their quarter-final tie.

The Reds suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat against Manchester City in the quarters of the FA Cup on Saturday, leaving the Champions League as their only hope of silverware this term.

While Arne Slot’s side cruised to the top flight title in his first season in charge, the Merseyside outfit have struggled this term despite spending at unprecedented levels last summer.

Liverpool currently sit fifth in the top flight table, and aren’t yet guaranteed a place in Europe’s top club competition next season.

In the meantime, though, a huge update has emerged in regard to the future of Slot.

According to indykaila News, Slot has offered to step down as Liverpool manager this summer if his terms are agreed to.

While the Dutchman has been under intense pressure at times this season – particularly during dismal runs of form during October and November, and more recently since the turn of the year – those in charge of the club have so far given their support to the ex-Feyenoord boss.

Slot took charge of Liverpool in the summer of 2024, succeeding Jurgen Klopp following the German’s departure.

The Reds stormed to the Premier League title during his first season in charge, but this term they have already lost ten times in the competition, compared to just four defeats throughout the entirety of the last campaign.

Slot’s contract with Liverpool is set to run through until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, but the report claims that the Dutchman has offered to resign from his post this summer.

In total, the 47-year-old has won 63 of his 104 games in charge of the Reds across all competitions.
