Packers Host Indiana Superstar And National Champion In Pre-Draft Visit

The Green Bay Packers may not have a first round draft pick this year (or next) after trading for Micah Parsons last off-season, but that won’t stop them from doing their research on some of the best players going into the NFL Draft.  One of those is a National Champion from the Indiana Hoosiers and plays running back.

His name?  Kaelon Black.

Packers Host Indiana Hoosiers National Champion Kaelon Black In Pre Draft Visit

Gery Woelfel reported that Green Bay will host Kaelon Black on an official pre-draft visit.  Green Bay is looking for a reliable running back behind Josh Jacobs (who likely only has two years left with the Packers).

MarShawn Lloyd, who is entering his third year with Green Bay, has often been referred to as the most talented running back on Green Bay’s roster.  However, is inability to stay healthy as forced the Packers to look elsewhere.

Kaelon Black’s College Career

Black started his career at James Madison University where he attempted to establish a name for himself.  He spent two seasons there (2022-2023) before transferring to the University of Indiana where he also spent two years (2024-2025).

Through his four years in college he accomplished the following feats:

  • 51 games played
  • 443 rushing attempts
  • 2,261 rushing yards
  • 5.1 yards per attempt
  • 16 rushing touchdowns
  • 52 receptions
  • 473 receiving yards
  • 6 receiving touchdowns

Black is widely projected as a 5th to 7th round draft choice (day 3 pick), making him a very feasible draft target for the Packers.  General manager Brian Gutekunst has made it clear that Green Bay will be adding to the running back position this off-season, likely through the draft.

Green Bay fans should keep close eyes on Kealon Black come the end of April.
