Ghana reaches semi-final of African Schools Championship despite Burkina Faso loss – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

Ghana’s Black Damsels have secured a spot in the semi-finals of the 2026 CAF African Schools Football Championship, despite suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Burkina Faso in their final Group B fixture on Tuesday.

The defending champions entered the clash at Gateway High School with momentum but found it difficult to break down a resilient Burkinabe defense.

A solitary goal from the opposition was enough to hand the Ghanaian side their first loss of the tournament, yet their earlier dominant performances proved sufficient to guarantee progression to the knockout stage.

The Black Damsels’ path to the semi-finals was paved on the opening day of the continental finals.

They began their title defense with an emphatic 6-0 thrashing of Guinea, followed by a gritty 2-1 victory over Tanzania.

These two wins ensured that Ghana finished among the top teams in the group, keeping their hopes of a back-to-back continental trophy alive.

Having famously defeated Uganda 2-0 to claim the trophy in 2025, the team remains a favorite to reach the final on April 10.

The Black Damsels now face Zambia and will look to bounce back and continue their quest for the continental schools’ football title.
