The Memphis Grizzlies have re-signed forward Adama Bal after his initial 10-day contract expired Monday night, the team announced.
While it’s labeled as a second 10-day deal, only six days remain in the season, so Bal will earn a prorated $43,892 instead of the usual rookie amount.
The signing is allowed under a hardship exception due to Memphis’ injury situation.
Bal, a 6-foot-7 French forward, appeared in six games during his first stint, averaging 8.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.0 steal in 27.3 minutes, while shooting 43.3% from three.
He is one of four players signed via hardship deals, as the Grizzlies are dealing with seven season-ending injuries and currently have a 22-man roster.
Lucas Williamson’s deal expires Thursday, while Dariq Whitehead and Toby Okani, like Bal, are signed through Sunday’s regular-season finale.
