Chennai Super Kings superstar Dewald Brevis announced his comeback date ahead of the upcoming clash against the Delhi Capitals and thanked CSK for their immense love and support across all venues in India.
The Chennai Super Kings have not had the finest start to the tournament, as they have lost three of their opening games in the 2026 edition. Having played their first game against the Rajasthan Royals and their last one against RCB, the Chennai team collapsed in multiple departments.
After a batting collapse first up, they bounced back and scored two double-hundred totals against the Punjab Kings and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. However, the bowling deck has been left loosened, as a result of which they have lost all their matches until now.

CSK star Dewald Brevis confirms return in IPL 2026
Dewald Brevis, the South African superstar for CSK, was supposed to play an entire season for CSK this time around. He was picked as a replacement star in the last season, despite which he performed stunningly in the few appearances he made.
Brevis picked up an injury after the ICC T20 World Cup and failed to start the campaign for CSK in the initial stages of the IPL. On the other hand, Dewald Brevis has been training in the CSK nets, and his return is highly awaited by the Indian fans.
During a fan interaction session with CSK team members, Dewald Brevis mentioned his return date in a special section where he had to deliver a quick message to his CSK fans. Brevis confirmed that he is excited to meet the fans on the 11th, which is the next match for CSK against DC.
“Can’t wait to see you guys on the 11th, any match, anywhere we play,” mentioned Brevis, boldly declaring his comeback.

Can Brevis restore the balance in CSK’s batting order?
Can Dewald Brevis restore the balance in the Chennai Super Kings’ squad? This is a massive question for the Super Kings, since they need balance in that middle order. While Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad failed to be promising at the top, they need someone who can build a promising innings in the middle order.
Brevis, who had a promising season in the shortest format of the game, would most likely replace Kartik Sharma after the batter did not produce a promising performance in his debut season. Prasanth Veer, on the contrary, has batted well in the last game, though he is yet to bowl.
Brevis, alongside the in-form Sarfaraz Khan, can be the batters who can join hands to give CSK a solid middle order. However, CSK’s biggest concern surrounding the bowlers is not likely to be solved with Brevis’ return.
Dewald Brevis’ stunning form in T20 cricket in 2026
Though Brevis has had a stunning run in the shortest format of the game in recent times, the batter has not been as consistent as before. Yet he delivered his best season in the SA20, as he moved from MI Cape Town to the Pretoria Capitals.
370 runs across 12 innings, averaging 41.11 and striking at 156.11 with two half-centuries and a mammoth hundred in the final against the Sunrisers Eastern Cape. He has amassed 1046 runs across four seasons in the SA20.
On the other hand, Brevis played a crucial role for South Africa in the T20 World Cup, where, despite not scoring his maiden World Cup fifty, he played some spectacular innings with the bat.
