A new report surrounding TNA’s talent policy has sparked a sharp reaction from AEW World Champion MJF. His response adds another layer to an already tense cross-promotional situation.
The comments come as questions continue to swirl about whether TNA will allow its wrestlers to compete against AEW talent on independent shows — a move that could reshape several upcoming matches.
MJF responds as TNA talent restrictions come into focus
According to Fightful Select and PWInsider, TNA has recently pulled or reconsidered allowing talent to appear on events where they would face AEW wrestlers.
One example includes Moose’s removal from an upcoming Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling show despite earlier approval. This removal raised eyebrows behind the scenes.
The reports suggest concerns within TNA about their wrestlers potentially losing or an unfavourable portrayal against talent from other promotions.
Additionally, TNA President Carlos Silva reportedly cited “partner conflicts” as a reason for some changes. Nevertheless, it remains unclear who influenced the decision.
MJF didn’t hold back in response. In a post on X, he wrote, “Nic Nemeth and TNA are afraid of the AEW World Champion,” before adding, “Let’s see if Nicky still has the balls to show up to Long Island.” The AEW star also took aim at management, claiming they “don’t care about the fans or his roster getting paid.”
The situation directly impacts a scheduled match between MJF and Nic Nemeth set for May 1 at Create-A-Pro Wrestling. Reports indicate the bout “might not happen,” though it is still currently expected to go ahead despite attempts to block it.
Meanwhile, not all cross-promotional matches seem to have the axe hanging over them. Dave Meltzer reported that Leon Slater vs. Ricochet for the April 16 Mark Hitchcock Memorial Supershow is still on as of now.
As AEW continues to build momentum on the road to Dynamite and upcoming events, this situation has quickly turned into a promotional tug-of-war. Much like a contested finish, the final decision may not be settled just yet.
