Dana White Says One Thing Could "Screw" UFC Freedom 250 at White House

UFC CEO Dana White has laid down the law regarding the historic UFC Freedom 250 event on the South Lawn of the White House. During a live stream on Kick with streamer Adin Ross and Nina Drama, White made it clear that no weather condition will force a cancellation.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, June 14, which also marks President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday. While White admitted he typically hates promoting outdoor events due to weather variables, this occasion was too significant to pass up.

“We’re fighting,” White declared on the stream. “If it f—ing snows, we’re fighting. We’re fighting.”

He elaborated that bugs, heavy winds, muggy conditions, and even rain are obstacles they are prepared to push through.

The One Weather Condition that May

However, White identified one specific weather condition that would force the promotion to pause operations.

“Lightning is the only thing, and what we’d have to do is just wait it out,” White explained. “We’d have to wait the lightning out, and then do the fight.”

White reiterated this stance with colorful emphasis, stating, “Nothing will stop this show going that night, it could f— rain… Lightning is the only thing that will really screw us.”

The UFC is taking unprecedented logistical steps to prepare for the outdoor setting, which will be only the second outdoor event in promotion history.

“We actually start loading into the White House in May,” White revealed. “Normally, we come here [to Miami], start moving in a couple of days before the event. We’ll be moving in over a month ahead.”

White admitted that the stress of dealing with potential weather hazards is a major reason he avoids outdoor events. “Listen, this is why I don’t like doing things outside,” White said. “Obviously, rain would suck. Heavy winds will suck. If it’s muggy and [there ’s] bugs.”

Fans Will Get a Teaser this Weekend

Despite these concerns, White confirmed that fans will get their first look at the setup during the UFC 327 broadcast on Paramount this Saturday (via Jed I. Goodman on X):

“Actually, the fight this Saturday will be the first look people will see what the south lawn is going to look like,” White said. “On the fight on Paramount this weekend. We have a spot for it, and it will actually show the setup of the south lawn.”

The card features two title fights: Ilia Topuria vs. Justin Gaethje for the lightweight title unification in the main event, and Alex Pereira vs. Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title in the co-feature. Additionally, household names like Sean O’Malley will be featured on the main card.

The June date in Washington, D.C. brings the risk of high heat and humidity, a concern that UFC commentator Joe Rogan has had, among other security concerns.

“Who knows what’s going to happen,” White previously noted on the JRE MMA Show. “I guess they’ll probably have to have some sort of a roof over it, but what if it’s like 98 degrees outside? It’s June in DC. DC gets hot in the summer.”

Despite these concerns, White remains committed to the spectacle. While he has previously promised to give out 85,000 free tickets for the event, it remains to be seen whether or not this will actually happen.
