Triple H teasing Booker T possibly returning to the ring got people talking—but the real update is now coming straight from Booker T himself.
After Triple H posted a backstage Gorilla Position clip telling Booker T “Whenever you’re ready,” the question quickly became whether there was any real substance behind it. Speaking on the Hall of Fame podcast on April 9, 2026, Booker T addressed the moment directly—and he didn’t shut the door on stepping back into the ring.
He made it clear that while he’s not actively pushing for a comeback, he’s also not ready to completely rule it out: “Never say never, bro. I’m not going to put myself totally in the retirement category just yet.”
From there, Booker T explained that if he does feel that spark again, it wouldn’t just be for a random appearance—he’d want it to mean something, possibly working with a newer star.
“I might get the itch to want to have a retirement and do something with one of the young guys like Trick Williams.”
That detail stands out, especially given Booker T’s current role mentoring talent and Trick Williams is currently already one of the biggest stars on SmackDown. Booker also made it clear that he’s keeping his options open and isn’t closing the chapter just yet: “I don’t want to take that off the table. Anything is possible, you know what I mean?”
This update adds real context to what initially looked like backstage banter. While Triple H’s post could’ve easily been written off as a light moment, Booker T’s comments suggest there’s at least some level of openness to making it happen.
Booker T hasn’t had a WWE match since the 2023 Royal Rumble, with his most recent in-ring appearance coming at the Street Justice Rules Gauntlet in January 2025. Now, with him openly saying “never say never,” the idea of one final match—possibly tied to a younger opponent—is back on the table.
If Booker T does decide to step back in the ring, who would you want to see him face for one final match? Drop your thoughts and feedback below.
