LOS ANGELES, CA — Wise Owl Boxing has announced the signing of undefeated super welterweight prospect Jahvad McDermott, a towering young fighter from Los Angeles who is quickly gaining attention for his unusual size and athleticism in the division.
Standing an imposing 6-foot-6, McDermott brings a rare combination of height, reach, power, and mobility to the 154-pound weight class. His physical dimensions have already drawn comparisons to reigning world champion Sebastian Fundora, whose own height has helped redefine the physical expectations of the super welterweight division.
With those attributes, McDermott is expected to present serious challenges for opponents as he continues to develop early in his professional career.
Promoter Mark Habibi Sees Huge Potential
Wise Owl Boxing founder Mark Habibi believes the young prospect has the tools to become a major force in the sport.
“Jahvad is a force to be reckoned with,” said Habibi. “He’s still very young in his boxing career, but his upside is tremendous. His size alone is going to give a lot of fighters in the division a very difficult time, and when you combine that with his power and athleticism, you’re looking at a future star.”
The signing represents the latest addition to a rapidly growing roster at Wise Owl Boxing, which has been building a stable of high-level fighters across multiple weight classes.
Wise Owl Boxing Continues Building Elite Roster
Habibi says the goal is to develop a stable that includes elite prospects, world champions, and Olympic-level talent capable of competing at the sport’s highest level.
“We’re building something very special,” Habibi added. “Our stable has been growing rapidly, and we’ve assembled elite fighters across the board—world champions, Olympians, and future world champions. Jahvad fits right into that mix, and we’re excited to have him on board and begin developing him into a superstar.”
Early Career Already Showing Promise
Although McDermott is officially listed as 1–0, he has already competed in two professional bouts, with one victory yet to be reflected in official records.
Despite being at the beginning of his professional journey, McDermott has shown clear flashes of potential inside the ring. His natural size advantage, combined with athletic ability and developing technical skills, has already made him one of the more intriguing young fighters to watch in the division.
With the backing of Wise Owl Boxing and a structured development plan, McDermott is expected to steadily climb the ranks and emerge as a notable contender in the super welterweight division.
A Prospect to Watch at 154 Pounds
Wise Owl Boxing has made a point of identifying and developing promising talent, and the addition of McDermott strengthens the promotion’s reputation as a growing force in the sport.
If his physical advantages and early promise translate into continued success in the ring, Jahvad McDermott could soon become one of the most talked-about rising prospects at 154 pounds.
