Sinner vs Zverev: Head-to-Head History
This will be the 13th meeting between these two players, and it is Sinner who holds the upper hand in the head-to-head with 8 wins to his name. In fact, the Italian has come out on top in each of their last seven meetings.
The two players met twice during the Sunshine Swing, with Sinner winning in the semifinals at Indian Wells and Miami. Their last clay-court meeting came in 2022 at the Monte-Carlo Masters quarterfinals, which Zverev won in three sets.
Sinner has looked unstoppable over the last month, completing the Sunshine Double without dropping a set. His streak of winning 37 consecutive sets at Masters 1000 tournaments came to an end in the third round in Monte-Carlo, but he claimed another ruthless 6-3, 6-4 win over Félix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinals.
Zverev was made to work hard in his quarterfinal against João Fonseca, but ultimately prevailed 7-5, 6-7(3), 6-3.
Both players will be looking to make the final of the Monte-Carlo Masters for the first time in their careers.
Sinner vs Zverev: Match Prediction
Zverev has looked solid on serve so far in Monte-Carlo, but unforced errors continue to haunt him. He had 47 unforced errors in the second round, 23 against in the third, and 36 against Fonseca.
While clay is not Sinner’s favorite surface, he is in excellent form at the moment and has won each of his last 15 matches. He has a habit of finding a way to win even when not playing at his best, as he has done so far this week.
A few chinks in Sinner’s serve have appeared this week as he has struggled to land his first serve, and it will be up to Zverev to use that to his advantage. But the German has already been pushed to three sets in two of his matches this week, and tiredness could be an issue for him.
Zverev will need to deliver a near-perfect performance in the semifinals if he is to end his winless run against Sinner. And with the form Sinner is in, even that might not be enough.
We are backing Sinner to once again have the upper hand against Zverev. Make sure to simulate all matches at the Monte-Carlo Masters with the help of the PFSN Tennis Predictor.
