LOUIS — The Red Sox’ offense showed signs of life in the final few days of the club’s homestand, plating at least five runs in three of four games and getting just enough timely hitting to take a series from the Brewers. Friday’s game, then, seemed like a potential breakout spot with the Cardinals starting Dustin May, who entered with a 15.95 ERA.
