Key Insights on Death Overs Economy Rates in IPL

Lasith Malinga has the lowest economy rate in the death overs in the IPL. He went at 7.82 while taking 90 wickets for 1196 runs off 917 balls in this phase.

Sunil Narine is the most economical spinner in the last four overs in the IPL, going at just under eight per over.

Jasprit Bumrah has the best economy rate among Indian bowlers in the IPL in this phase.

Bumrah also became the first bowler to send down 400-plus dot balls in the death overs in the IPL.

Dwayne Bravo is the only bowler to take more than 100 wickets in the slog overs in the IPL.

Jaydev Unadkat, Sam Curran and Ashok Dinda are the three bowlers with an economy rate of 11.20 or above in the death overs in the IPL.

Anil Kumble, another Indian bowler, tops the overall list of bowlers with the best economy rate in IPL history.

Malinga has also recorded the lowest economy rate in the death overs at a single venue. He conceded 7.15 runs per over while taking 41 wickets in 37 innings at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

Anrich Nortje has delivered the most expensive spell in the death overs in an IPL innings. He went for 48 runs while taking a wicket in two overs against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede in 2024.

Doug Bollinger has the lowest economy rate in the 20th over in the IPL (minimum 24 balls bowled). He had an economy of just 5.8 while taking eight wickets for 58 runs off 60 balls in the last over.

Sohail Tanvir, meanwhile, has the best economy in the 19th over, going at 4.75 while picking up five wickets for 19 runs in 24 balls.

Pawan Negi has achieved the lowest economy rate in the death overs in an IPL season (minimum 24 balls bowled). He claimed seven wickets at an economy of just 4.25 off 24 balls in 2017 for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
