Sanju Samson’s Century Powers Chennai to First Win, Beat Delhi by 23 Runs

CSK chose to bat first and made full use of the conditions, posting a huge 212/2 in 20 overs. Samson led from the front with a stunning unbeaten 115 off 56 balls.

He hit 15 fours and 4 sixes, reaching his hundred in just 52 balls. It was his fourth IPL ton and his first for Chennai.

Ayush Mhatre gave solid support with 59, before being tactically retired out. This move allowed Shivam Dube to come in and smash 20 not out off just 10 balls.

DC Start Strong, Then Collapse

Delhi Capitals began their chase well with a quick 61-run opening stand. Pathum Nissanka scored 41, while KL Rahul added 18.

But things quickly went downhill as the middle order collapsed under pressure. Jamie Overton turned the game with a superb spell, picking up 4 wickets for just 18 runs.

Anshul Kamboj supported him well with 3 wickets, keeping DC under control.

Stubbs Fights, But CSK Hold Nerve

Tristan Stubbs tried to bring DC back into the game with a fighting 60 off 38 balls. He kept hopes alive, but wickets kept falling at the other end.

Kamboj finished things in style, taking two wickets in the final over, including Lungi Ngidi on the last ball. DC were bowled out for 189.

Tactical Move Turns the Game

One of the key moments was CSK’s rare decision to retire out Mhatre after his fifty. This move helped increase the scoring rate in the final overs and pushed the total beyond 200.

It proved to be a smart call, as those extra runs made the difference in the end.

Points Table Update

This win helped Chennai Super Kings move off the bottom of the table. They climbed from 10th to 9th place and improved their Net Run Rate.

Delhi Capitals, despite the loss, remain in 4th position. However, this was their second straight defeat after a strong start to the season.

Memes Take Over Social Media

The victory sparked a wave of social media activity, with fans focusing on Sanju Samson’s redemption, the tactical “Retired Out” of Ayush Mhatre, and Jamie Overton’s match-winning spell. Here are few fans reaction.
