Report by Helen Fallas

The Senior and U20 scottishathletics Hill Running Championships were held on Saturday 11 April at Ben Ledi, near Callander.

This was a new uphill only race held specifically for the championships this year, increasing opportunity for uphill only racing.

The race started at the foot of Ben Ledi, climbing up through the forest tracks at the base of the hill, before moving onto the steeper open hill path.  Conditions were wintry and the course had to be shortened slightly due to the high winds on the summit.

Despite this, there was some excellent racing in a competitive field and great views from the top of the course.

Jacob Adkin (Moorfoot) and Nancy Scott (Edinburgh AC) won the Senior men’s and women’s race respectively. Carnethy won both the male and female team event prizes.

The U20 championship was won by Kieran Hardie (Harmeny AC) and Emily Atkinson (Haddington RC).
