The Cincinnati Reds put up some runs on Saturday afternoon in their brand new City Connect uniforms and picked up a win over the Angels to stop their losing streak. This afternoon they will look to beat Los Angeles once again, start a winning streak, and pick up a series victory. First pitch is scheduled for 1:40pm ET.

Starting Pitchers
Andrew Abbott
After having a dominant start on opening day, Abbott has been so-so in the last two starts. He pitched into the 6th inning in each game but couldn’t get through it in either and allowed four and two runs in the starts that saw the Reds win one and lose one.
The splits for Andrew Abbott are there, but they are small. Last season there was not much difference in how left-handed and right-handed hitters did against him when it comes to batting average or on-base percentage. The difference came in how much power the two groups showed, with lefties hitting for next to no power at all and righties hitting for mediocre at best power when they did get hits against him.

Jose Soriano
The season has started out about as well as one could imagine for Soriano. He threw 6.0 shutout innings and allowed just two hits in each of his first two starts. In his first home start against Atlanta the last time he took the mound he allowed one run over 8.0 innings, walked no one, and he struck out 10 batters. He’s given up just seven hits in 20.0 innings this season and just one run.
Last season Soriano was much better on the road, where his ERA was 2.99 runs lower than it was at home. When it comes to his platoon splits he was better against left-handed hitters, holding them to a lower average, which trickled over into a lower slugging percentage. Righties found a few more hits, and they made more contact but that didn’t translate to more power – just more singles.
