Duke’s Former 4-Star Recruit Predicted to Transfer to Big Ten Team

Duke’s Former 4-Star Recruit Predicted to Transfer to Big Ten Team

The Duke Blue Devils began navigating the offseason following their Elite Eight loss to the UConn Huskies. Despite not winning the program’s sixth national championship, it was a solid season. The Blue Devils went 35-3, were crowned the ACC regular season champions, and won the conference tournament.

However, Jon Scheyer and his staff have still taken several hits in the transfer portal. Two players have entered the portal since it officially opened on Tuesday. Both Darren Harris and Nikolas Khamenia are searching for new teams next season.

Coming out of the 2024 recruiting class, Harris was a four-star recruit and the No. 38 player in the nation, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. He chose the Blue Devils while having offers from the Ohio State Buckeyes, Maryland Terrapins, Miami Hurricanes and Georgetown Hoyas.

However, he struggled to find his footing with Duke. Over the past two seasons, the sophomore has appeared in 57 games and made zero starts. In that time, he has averaged 2.8 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. He is also shooting 36.4% from the field and 30.8% from the three-point line.

With his time in Durham coming to an end, the guard is weighing his options with two more years of eligibility. On3’s senior national recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw logged a prediction for Harris to commit to the Indiana Hoosiers. Shaw has been correct on 87.80% of his 582 all-time predictions.

Following an 18-14 season, the Hoosiers are looking to replenish their own transfer portal departures. With four players set to leave, landing a former top-50 recruit in Harris would be a solid addition.

Meanwhile, Scheyer and his staff continue to navigate the portal on their end. So far, Duke has yet to land a commitment. However, after bringing in two transfer additions last offseason, the Blue Devils have shown the ability to reload in the portal if needed.
