Over the past year, a shift in how Charlotte Flair has been presented has taken place. She’s been in tag teams before, but none of stood the time she has been spending with Alexa Bliss. The two are heading into this year’s WrestleMania as a team and are former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. They are hoping to walk out if Mania as two-time tag team champs together.
While speaking with SportsCenter, Flair says that for the past eight years she has not wanted to share the spotlight at WrestleMania. Now it seems different.
“If you’d asked me probably the last eight WrestleManias, I would have said, yeah, I don’t like sharing the spotlight, says Charlotte Flair. But having this incredible year with her by my side and being able to bring out a different side of my character, which has allowed me to connect with the fans in a different way than I ever have before, is just testament to our (Alexa Bliss) friendship, testament to the bond, testament to my loyal fans, and it’s just, if you had asked me last year if I’d had this on my bingo card, I’d definitely said no. Sometimes I think kthe best things are the ones that no one could have written or expected or planned, and it was so organic, and yeah, I’m looking forward to The Fatal 4-Way.”
Flair is walking into her ninth WrestleMania match. This will be the first time as a tag team and first time not chasing or defending a singles championship.
