The giant forward has been making strides for his club Sale and looks set for a future as a Test match player
A Welsh choir made an impassioned attempt to persuade Gabby Logan’s rising rugby star son Reuben to switch his international allegiance to Wales, she revealed.
Speaking on Sam Warburton’s SW7 Academy YouTube channel, Logan revealed how a group of Cardiff choristers turned recruiters at the funeral of her father, Welsh sporting great Terry Yorath.
The broadcaster was chatting with former Wales captain Warburton in his gym when the conversation turned to her 20-year-old son Reuben, who is continuing to make strides in the professional game.
“He’s doing good,” Logan said in a chat recorded some time back. “He’s on the bench tonight for Sale against Gloucester.
“He went there last season and he’s been getting himself into the team.”
But when Warburton pressed with regards to where the back-rower’s true allegiance lies, Logan divulged that members of a Welsh choir had tried to nudge him in the direction of this side of the Severn Bridge.
“I am very proud of my Welsh heritage,” Logan said. “Recently we lost our dad and we had lots of Welsh people at his funeral in Leeds.
“There was also a fantastic choir from Cardiff that came up.
“There was about 50 of them, they’d all had a pint or two, and they were all asking Reuben if he’d consider switching allegiances!”

The young talent has already enjoyed an interesting international journey so far.
Reuben is also the son of former Scotland wing Kenny Logan, of course, while his maternal grandfather Terry Yorath is one of Wales’ most recognisable sporting figures.
Despite that Welsh bloodline, Logan admitted her son’s loyalties have long been clear.
“To be fair to Reuben, he’s been Scottish since he was born,” she said.
“He played for the under-18s for England, then Kenny was a bit unsure whether to cheer for him that day!
“Kenny used to just shout, ‘Come on Reuben!’ He said, ‘I can’t shout Come on England!’”
That England age-grade spell saw him alongside one of the brightest young names in the game.
“It was a great experience for him,” Logan added.
“He was in that with Henry Pollock, who was his Northampton team-mate and house mate.
“They are very good mates.”
Reuben’s decided last year to switch from England’s pathway to Scotland’s under-20 set-up, a move that delighted his father, who had previously admitted he had to “pretend” to be happy when his son wore white.
Now at Sale after leaving Northampton, the 6ft 5in forward continues to build a strong reputation, and Logan says the biggest development has been off the field.
“I can see Reuben’s maturity this year as a person,” she said.
“He is only 20, he is still so young but has changed so much, particularly his attitude towards professional life.
“He left home when he was 17 to go to Northampton. That’s so young.”
