Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • WrestleMania 42 match rehearsals started Wednesday, says Fightful Select, with the Intercontinental championship ladder match chief among them.
  • In a report yesterday afternoon about Darby Allin’s AEW World title win on Dynamite, Fightful Select’s sources at the company told them Allin “was discussed as possibly winning the championship multiple times in the past couple of years.”
  • Photos of Nikki Bella in Las Vegas wearing a walking boot circulating on social media have led to increased speculation about her status for WrestleMania Saturday’s Women’s Tag title 4Way.
  • WWE didn’t lock in firm times for WrestleMania week promotional appearances until really late because they “expected one of the busiest promotional periods in history to push late ticket sales.” That per Fightful, which noted WWE is remaining flexible much longer than usual for the push.
  • Per BodySlam, Keanu Carver is expected to play a major role in NXT moving forward, and he’ll be getting a big push sooner rather than later.
  • AEW filed a trademark on “AEW Redemption” this week, which sounds like either a new PPV or Dynamite/Collision special episode name.
  • One last one from Fightful: Cathy Kelley did train at the WWE Performance Center last year, but her recent bump on Raw isn’t indicative the interviewer and host is about to get more involved in an angle. Sean Ross Sapp “never heard of any specific creative plans for her in WWE from a wrestling capacity”, and indicated Kelley’s training at the PC was her idea in order to be ready if a storyline ever called for her to get more involved.
